LaGuardia Community College, in collaboration with leading healthcare institutions, offers the Healthcare Finance and Operations Training Program, a free six-month course designed to equip students for entry-level roles in non-clinical healthcare operations. The program focuses on practical training in medical billing, data analysis, and revenue cycle management.
Program Highlights
- No-Cost Training: The program is grant-funded and available to eligible New York City residents with limited incomes.
- Career-Ready Skills: Students gain hands-on knowledge in healthcare finance, billing, and customer service to prepare for roles like Revenue Cycle Specialist or Billing Coordinator.
- Flexible Schedule: Classes are held in the evenings, with a hybrid format of online and in-person sessions.
Program Overview

Students will also receive training in business communication and job readiness, ensuring they are prepared for real-world job expectations. Upon completion, participants earn a certificate of completion and may interview with one of the program’s hospital partners.
Graduates can also earn nine college credits toward an associate degree in Business Administration with a Healthcare Management focus at LaGuardia Community College. However, the program does not prepare students for a national certification in medical billing or coding.

Program Details
Classes are held primarily in the evenings, Monday through Thursday from 6 PM to 9 PM, with occasional Friday sessions. A hybrid model combines online and in-person learning, offering flexibility for students. Participants should plan to spend an additional 10–20 hours per week on assignments and studying.
Although the focus is on medical billing, students also gain exposure to healthcare data analysis, accounting, and revenue cycle management. The program emphasizes building transferable skills for roles in large healthcare organizations.
Why LaGuardia Community College?
This program’s collaboration with major healthcare institutions such as Weill Cornell Medicine and Mount Sinai Health System provides students with networking and job opportunities.
